GETTING STARTED

First Visit and New Clients

What should I bring to my first appointment at Stonelake Animal Hospital?

Bring your pet’s health records and vaccination history from any previous clinic, along with the name of whatever flea, tick and parasite prevention your pet is on right now. If your pet takes anything daily, including joint supplements or products bought elsewhere, bring the packaging so we can record it accurately rather than from memory. Filling in your registration before you arrive means more of the appointment is spent on your pet and less on paperwork. If you are not sure what to bring, call us at (916) 714-3333 and our team will talk you through it.

We see dogs and cats. If you have another kind of animal, call us at (916) 714-3333 before you book and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right practice for them or point you toward one that is. It is worth the two minute phone call rather than a wasted trip across town.

We are at 2521 W Taron Ct, Suite 150, Elk Grove, CA 95757, in the Stonelake neighborhood the hospital is named for. Parking is one detail we would rather confirm than guess at, so call us at (916) 714-3333 before you set off and our team will tell you exactly where to leave the car and which entrance to use. If you are coming for the first time, the suite number matters, so keep it handy.

BOOKING

Appointments and Hours

How do I book an appointment at Stonelake Animal Hospital?

You can book online at any hour through the booking link on our website, which is the easiest option if you are sorting out a routine visit at 10:00 at night. You can also call us at (916) 714-3333 during opening hours, and for anything urgent or complicated the phone is better, because it lets our team ask the two or three questions that decide how much time your pet’s visit actually needs.

We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday. We stay open until 7:00 PM on weekdays, which helps if you cannot get away from work during the day. If your pet needs attention outside those hours, read the after hours section further down this page before you set off anywhere.

Yes, during clinic hours. Call us at (916) 714-3333 as early in the day as you can, because a phone call lets our team prepare before you arrive and tell you what to watch for on the way in. Please call ahead rather than arriving unannounced, particularly late in the day, when appointment availability is held back for pets who need to be seen urgently. Once we have closed for the evening, see the after hours section below.

Yes. We have a product refill request form on our website, so you can send the request through at any time rather than waiting to catch us by phone. Please allow us time to review the request before you need the item, since a refill is a clinical decision rather than an automatic reorder, and call us at (916) 714-3333 if you are running low sooner than expected.

OUR CARE

Our Services

What veterinary services does Stonelake Animal Hospital offer?

Our most requested areas of care are dental care, surgery, and same-day urgent visits during clinic hours. Dental care covers cleanings, digital dental X-rays, oral health assessment and extractions. Our surgical work runs from spay and neuter through soft tissue and abdominal procedures, with referral out to another practice where a case needs care we do not provide here. We also offer preventive care, medical services, diagnostics, nutrition counseling, wellness plans, end-of-life care, and pet travel services including international health certificates.

Yes, during clinic hours. We can see and treat acute illness and injury the same day where our schedule allows, and because our diagnostics are on site, including digital X-ray, ultrasound and an in-house laboratory, we can usually get from assessment to a plan in one visit rather than sending you elsewhere for basic answers. Call us at (916) 714-3333 first so we know you are on your way. We are a daytime practice with no overnight staffing, so anything that happens once we have closed is covered in the after hours section below.

Yes. Our dental care includes professional cleaning, oral health assessment, digital dental X-rays, care for oral infections, extractions where a tooth cannot be saved, and more advanced dental surgery. Dental X-rays matter more than most owners expect, because a large share of dental disease sits below the gumline where an eye and a probe simply cannot reach it. Call us at (916) 714-3333 to talk through what your pet needs and when.

Yes. Our online store lets you order veterinary products and have them delivered to your door, and you can reach it from the Online Store link at the top of every page on our website. If you would rather we set the first order up with you, call us at (916) 714-3333 and our team will walk you through it.

Yes. Dr. Amoldeep Singh Toor, DVM, our owner and founding veterinarian, and Dr. Shivinder Singh Saini, DVM, our associate veterinarian, both hold current California veterinary licenses, and our premises holds a current California veterinary premises permit. Dr. Toor is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the California Veterinary Medical Association; both are professional memberships he holds as an individual veterinarian rather than accreditations held by the hospital, and neither is a specialty board certification.

PAYMENT

Payment and Insurance

What payment methods does Stonelake Animal Hospital accept?

We accept cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. If you are booking a surgery or a dental day and want to plan the payment side in advance, call us at (916) 714-3333 and our team will go through it with you before the appointment rather than at the counter afterward.

Pet insurance normally works by reimbursement: you settle with the clinic at the time of the visit, then send your insurer the invoice and records so they can pay you back. We are glad to provide the itemized invoice and clinical records your claim needs. Which insurers we currently work with is worth confirming with our team rather than assuming, so call us at (916) 714-3333 before your visit. If you are still shopping for a policy, buy it before a problem appears, because insurers do not cover conditions a pet already has.

Yes. We work with third-party financing providers, so the cost of a larger procedure can be spread over time instead of paid in one go. Applications are handled directly with the financing provider and approval is their decision rather than ours. Call us at (916) 714-3333 or ask at the front desk and our team will point you to the current options.

Yes. You will be given an estimate before a procedure or a course of care begins, and you are welcome to ask about any line on it before you agree to anything. We do not publish a price list on the website, because the right plan depends on the pet in front of us and on what we find once we have looked properly. For the cost of a specific procedure, call us at (916) 714-3333 and we will go through it with you.

PREVENTION

Preventive Care

How often should my pet have a wellness exam?

Once a year for a healthy adult dog or cat, and twice a year once your pet reaches senior age. Pets age far faster than we do, so a year between visits is a long stretch in which something can develop quietly, and twice-yearly visits in the senior years are about catching those changes while they are still small. Our wellness plans bundle the exam and preventive work for the year, which makes the schedule easier to keep.

Vaccines fall into two groups. Core vaccines are recommended for essentially every dog or cat, and rabies vaccination is required by California law. Lifestyle vaccines depend on what your pet actually does: a dog who boards, goes to daycare, hikes or swims faces different risks than one who does not, and an indoor-only cat faces different risks than one who goes outside. We will go through your pet’s routine with you at the first appointment and recommend only what fits it.

Year-round prevention is the honest answer here. Our winters do not get cold enough or long enough to reliably break the flea and mosquito cycle, so heartworm, fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites stay a live risk across the calendar rather than seasonally. Dogs on trails and in tall grass pick up ticks, and pets who drink from standing water can pick up giardia. Call us at (916) 714-3333 and we will put together a prevention plan built around where your pet actually goes.

AFTER HOURS

After Hours and Emergencies

What should I do if my pet has an emergency outside our hours?

Go straight to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital. We are a daytime practice, closed overnight and all day Sunday, and there is no one here to take your call at 2:00 AM, so please do not lose time trying us first. Call the emergency hospital while you are on the way so their team is ready when you arrive. Ask us for our recommendation at your next visit, or call us at (916) 714-3333 during opening hours, so you have the number saved in your phone before the night you need it.

Treat these as emergencies: difficulty breathing, collapse or sudden weakness, seizures, straining to urinate without producing anything, severe or uncontrolled bleeding, pale or white gums, being hit by a car or any significant trauma, and swallowing something toxic. Bloating with a hard swollen belly and unproductive retching belongs on that list too, and it moves fast. During our opening hours, call us at (916) 714-3333 immediately and start driving; outside them, go straight to a 24-hour emergency hospital. When you are unsure whether it qualifies, act as though it does.
